General Laborer
General laborers assist skilled people in their tasks. In order to get this job, you must be physically fit, hard working, and able to follow instructions rapidly and proficiently. You should swiftly learn to pay attention to what they are doing, tag on safety precautions, and turn out to be clever with many kinds of tools. You may work on different sites and crews doing a variety of jobs, so having skills in several areas, in addition to being able to get along with people is important.
Duties Include:
- Painting skills
- Assist construct or tear down buildings
- Load and unload structure materials and move materials about in work areas
- Direct traffic at or near building sites; and carry out other activities as directed
- Maintain and plant gardens
- Assist with clerical duties
- Operate machinery for instance mowers or material breakers
- Maintain tools and equipment
- Erect and take to pieces concrete forms, scaffolding and ramps
- Construct scaffolding
- Dig trenches and place pipes or cables for drains and extra services
- Construct and maintain roads, pathways or railways
- Clean up work sites
- Shift equipment and materials
- Transfer and finish concrete
- Take delivery of materials and cargo from suppliers
- Mix, transfer and extend materials for example concrete and asphalt
- Help in drilling and blasting; plane earth using rakes and shovels
- Remove debris and trash at construction sites using wheelbarrows
- Perform other duties as assigned by overseer
